PAUL GRADY ENGLAND
Amsterdam
Paul Grady England was born in Hugo, Oklahoma on January 12, 1918 and died in Rocky Point, New York on June 9, 1988. He graduated from Central High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1936; earned a BA at Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, PA in 1940; M.A. at the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Okla. in 1959. Additionally, he studied at the Art Students League, N.Y. between 1943 and 1946 and Zadkine Studio, Paris, France in 1948 and 1949.

He exhibited widely, including: Philbrook Art Center, Tulsa; Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Pennsylvania Academy Oil Annuals; Pennsylvania Academy Watercolor Annual; Library of Congress Print Annual; Colorado Springs Invitational Exhibition ; Brooklyn Museum; Olivet College Annual Graphics Exhibition.

He was a Professor of art at Hofstra University

SUE HUTCHINGS STRICKLAND

Sister's Milieu - Donated in loving memory of her sister, Juanita Hutchings Boone. The painting is from a photograph of Jaunita's ornamental cabbage. Sue Hutchings Strickland was born February 05, 1928, in Choctaw County.

While living in Bossier City, Louisiana Sue became more aggressive and more productive with her art. She became a member of the Palette Pilots, Barksdale Air Force Base, The Bossier Art Association, The Hoover Watercolor Society, Shreveport Louisiana, The Louisiana Watercolor Society, New Orleans, Louisiana, The Bossier Arts Council and The Shreveport Arts Council. Sue has participated in many group exhibitions as well as her one-woman shows, winning many awards to her credit. Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Sue remains an active member of the aforementioned societies, now serving on the executive board of directors in the Hoover Watercolor Society, Shreveport, Louisiana - and still painting!!

ATHA SHELBY DeWEESE

Atha Shelby DeWeese created a series of paintings decipting the Choctaw "Trail of Tears". The museum possesses nine paintings from this series and her grand-daughter possesses the remainder. A separate page has been created to display this series of paintings.
