In 1918 the War Savings Stamp (WSS) Building was placed in the middle
of the intersection of Jackson and Broadway Streets in Hugo. It was
used to sell savings bonds and stamps to help fund World War I.After the war, the WSS Building was moved several times and for a time was lived in (with an added room) prior to it being obtained by a retired Frisco Engineer, Howard Harrison, who moved it to his front yard. After his death, his son, Toby Harrison, donated the building to the Choctaw County Historical Society. In March of 2008, the Society moved the WSS Building to the North end of the Frisco Depot to begin restoration. Using funds from a Oklahoma Centennial Commission grant, the exterior of the building was restored soon afterwards. The remaining resoration work is awaiting funding. The pictutes below show the move to the location and the current state of the building. .
